This books presents the complete paintings of the Salvador Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, a museum with hundreds of thousands of visitors a year that houses more than 2,100 works by Dalí, encompassing the most comprehensive collection of his art in the world. The 96 fullcolor reporductions in Dalí: The Painting of the Salvador Dalí Museum include the museum´s most recent painting acquisitions and provide a review of Dalí´s career, from his students days in Madrid to the work that sprang from his interactions with Federico García Lorca and Luis Buñuel, and from his entry into the French surrealist movement in 1929 to his subsequent break with André Breton. The book also includes his later, more cryptic works that arose from his postwar fascination with the interaction between history, sciencie, and mysticism.
